Parenting influencer Ruby Franke, 41, and her associate Jodi Hildebrandt have been charged with two felony counts of aggravated child abuse in Southern Utah. These charges followed after authorities received a distressing call on August 30 about a malnourished child seeking help.
Ruby Franke facing charges of child abuse
According to a press release from the Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety Department, a concerned individual alerted them about a severely malnourished juvenile with visible injuries. Subsequent investigation led officers to another minor in a similar condition at a nearby residence. Both were immediately transported for medical care.
The home was then subjected to a thorough search, revealing evidence consistent with the injuries observed on the minors. Four minors were later taken into protective custody by the Department of Child and Family Services. Both Hildebrandt and Franke were arrested in relation to these findings.
While the investigation continues, no further details will be disclosed due to its sensitive nature.
Franke known for her YouTube content
Franke, previously known for her YouTube channel “8 Passengers,” which showcased her family life, had faced previous criticisms for her parenting methods. An episode where her son was reported to have slept on a beanbag chair for months generated controversy and led to an inquiry by child protective services.
Franke later collaborated with Hildebrandt in a video series titled “ConneXions Classroom.” Hildebrandt, founder of ConneXions, faced her own controversies in 2012 when her therapist license was suspended.
In light of these recent events, Franke’s sisters, Ellie Mechan and Julie Deru, both prominent on social media, voiced their support for the arrests. They emphasized the well-being of the children and the necessity of the actions taken.
