We know the robbery took place on what seemed like an ordinary day, December 18, 1922. Eighty thousand dollars was recovered during the ensuing investigation. One of the suspects died in the getaway truck. Twelve years after the recovered dead body of the getaway driver, A.T. Clark identified all the robbers.
